In 2000, Don was one of the proud recipients of the Chamber Music America Doris Duke Foundation New Works Grant. The piece, "The Soaring Spirit", was commissioned for the Don Braden Octet and was performed in conjunction with Project Poetry "Live", a remarkable gig that combines poetry, dance, original music, and 7th and 8th graders!
