In 2000, Don was one of the proud recipients of the Chamber Music America Doris Duke Foundation New Works Grant. The piece, "The Soaring Spirit", was commissioned for the Don Braden Octet and was performed in conjunction with Project Poetry "Live", a remarkable gig that combines poetry, dance, original music, and 7th and 8th graders! Television

Don Braden has completed four years as one of the music supervisors (drummer/producer Scott Schreer was the other) for Bill Cosby's latest CBS sitcom, "Cosby", now airing in syndication. You'll hear Don playing tenor saxophone on the theme song, as well as in most of the show's musical cues. He also co-wrote (with Cosby and Jon Faddis) the theme song for Cosby's "Little Bill" cartoon series.

Film

Listen for Don's saxophone and orchestrations in John Walsh's "Ed's Next Move", which was released commercially in the fall of 1996 by Orion pictures. The music was composed by Benny Golson, with one tune by Braden.

Braden has just completed the film score for "Lena's Dreams", produced and directed by Gordon Eriksen and Heather Johnston. This film began screening in film festivals in fall 1996.
